Welcome to Studio Art
This Art class will be different from any class you have ever had! Classes will be performance based. Studio Art is a self-paced course via the use of tech devices, instructional videos, hands-on coaching, and tons of artistic experimentations.
Your grade will be derived from data collected from your work both inside and outside of class and your efforts both inside and outside of the classroom.
Each student will keep an online visual blog to show growth in their talents and creativity. This blog will be evaluated as an ongoing project that will count toward the grade of the student.
There will be in-class demos, guest speakers, collaborative activities, and field trip opportunities for each student to participate in.
What you will learn
Each student will be given the opportunity to learn the elements of Art and the principles of design.
Each student will be given the opportunity to experiment with a large variety of artistic mediums through participation in hands-on artistic experiences.
Each student will be given the opportunity to freely experiment, adapt, create, and have choices in their artistic endeavors. This will enhance your creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Each student will be expected to participate in their project at hand for the duration of the class period. A student’s work ethic will play a prominent part in their earned grade.
Each student will have a paper folder that will contain handouts and the chooseyourownartventure lesson journal with their sketchbook that they will use to keep notes, sketches, doodles, and reference materials. Posts are graded at 30 points per post. At completion of each project students will post a finished photograph of the artwork created.
Students should respect each other, respect the materials, and respect themselves by working hard and making an effort in their work. If a student is not respecting those around them, not respecting the facilities, equipment, or materials, or not making an effort in their work a consequence will be assigned. Notice of a consequence will be sent home.
Work hard and have fun! Continue with your ORIENTATION.
